Compare value for money with unit prices, scale recipes up and down, find the most a recipe can make, and change money between currencies.
Compare the same amount
To find the better buy, work out what the same amount costs in each pack: 100 g, 1 litre or one item.
- Pack A: 400 g for £2.60, Pack B: 750 g for £4.50
- Pack A: £2.60 ÷ 4 = 65p per 100 g
- Pack B: £4.50 ÷ 7.5 = 60p per 100 g
- Pack B is the better value
The bigger pack is often, but not always, better value. Check every time.
