Your time and careful answers
A minute a mark
Give each section about a minute a mark. Rhythm, pitch, and keys and scales have 15 marks each: about 15 minutes each. Keep about 10 minutes at the end to check every answer. If a question is taking too long, move on and come back to it.
Quick check
Intervals is worth 10 marks. About how long should you give it?
Careful answers
The exam is marked automatically: each answer is right or not.
- Read every word of the question.
- Check the clef and the key signature, then look back along the bar.
- Count: letters for intervals, beats for bars.
When you check, count a different way the second time.
Quick check

Remember
- About a minute a mark, and 10 minutes kept to check.
- Read every word. Check the clef and the key. Count.
