Move a note an octave from the treble clef to the bass clef and back: same letter, eight notes away, placed by counting from middle C.

Worked example: treble to bass

An octave lower: the G below middle C, the top space
  1. Name it, with its place: the second line of the treble stave is the G above middle C.
  2. An octave lower keeps the letter: the G below middle C.
  3. In the bass clef that G is the top space.

Quick check

How many letter names apart are two notes an octave apart?
