Two phrases, a half-way close and a modulation: the plan before the notes.

Two phrases

Bar 4 closes on V; bars 5 to 8 move to A minor

An 8-bar melody is two 4-bar phrases. The first stays in the home key and closes on a note of chord V at bar 4. The second moves to the new key and closes there.

More on this

At Grade 7 the new key is often minor: the relative, or the relative of the dominant or subdominant. Its leading note is an accidental: bring it in from bar 5 or 6 and let it rise to the new tonic.
